Overlooked and undervalued
Article Abstract:
Warrants are suitable investments for investors who are optimistic about the long-term potential of stocks, though they are not suitable for investors fearful of a long downturn. Warrants expiring before 2000 are not as safe as those which have longer to run. Investors should also assess the growth prospects for the sectors that the warrants specialize in such as smaller firms or UK capital growth. Warrants in trusts geared toward yields may be best avoided since investors cannot obtain the yield and the aim is not to obtain capital growth.

A marriage made in Edinburgh
Article Abstract:
Edinburgh Fund Managers is acquiring Dunedin, and the new group will have over 8 billion pounds sterling under management which will give it a ranking of second among Scottish independent fund managers. Investment trusts account for some half the total funds managed. Dunedin had lost fund managers which left it vulnerable, while Edinburgh was affected by the break-up of British Coal which has changed the way miners' pension assets are administered.
