PMB becomes profitable

Prvni mestska banka (PMB) (Prague, Czech Republic), bank, generated a profit of CEK 10.7 mil in 2000, according to preliminary data. In 1999 it saw a loss of CEK 126 mil. PMB's balance sum rose to CEK 8.4 bil in 2000 compared to CEK 5.8 bil in 1999. Its client deposits amounted to CEK 4.6 bil at the end of 2000. Its net interest revenues were CEK 115 mil in 2000. PMB should have a 70% stake acquired by a consortium of the banks Dexia (France) and Kommunalkredit Austria (Austria).

Union Banka becomes profitable
Article Abstract:
Union banka (UB) (Ostrava, Czech Republic), bank, saw a net profit of CEK 15.54 mil in 2000, according to preliminary results. In 1999 the bank generated a loss of CEK 99.189 mil. Its balance sum decreased to CEK 26.248 bil in 2000 compared to CEK 27.713 bil in 1999. The drop of UB's assets is connected with the orientation of the bank to small-scale clients, which resulted in an increase in deposits. The bank has a 85.26% majority stake held by Union Group (Czech Republic).
