Pace says QDR shows major weapons systems still required: Both new and old threats loom
Article Abstract:
Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff explained the conclusions of the Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) stem from the fact that the US must be prepared, competently, to counter not only new types of threats posed by terrorists and rogue states, but also to counter conventional-war threats posed by major powers. Speaking at a National Press Club luncheon, he stated that QDR examined dangers confronting the nation, and then divined the rational responses needed to counter those threats.
