Paris' Tower Without End
Article Abstract:
The city of Paris is planning the construction of the Tour sans fins, or Tower Without End, a skyscraper that rivals the Eiffel Tower in ambition. Its dimensions of 1,394 feet in height and 143 feet in diameter have been criticized as unlikely to have enough rentable space to obtain a profit. However, it has gained public support, partly due to its remarkable ability to create disappearing illusions at specific winds. The building, designed by architects Jean Nouvel and Jean-Marc Ibos, has undergone technical and economic feasability studies and has innovative space-saving designs.

No fire without smoke for Maiden
Article Abstract:
Maiden is a UK poster site operator which could be affected by government plans to prohibit tobacco advertising. The company has cut the proportion of turnover coming from tobacco advertising to 8% from 22% and this could rop to 6% in 1997. An immediate ban could still affect Maiden due to its high overheads. UK display advertising could also be affected by higher taxes and interest rates which will hit consumer spending. The company's pre-tax profit is forecast at 11.5 million pounds sterling by Merrill Lynch.
