Patent pools and standard setting in diagnostic genetics

The use of diagnostic patent pools may overcome the negative consequences of exclusivity and stacking in the field of diagnostic genetics. Properly structured and implemented, these diagnostic patent pools could integrate complementary technologies, reduce transaction costs and spur innovation.
