The next budget: a deficit of nearly CEK 20 bil
Article Abstract:
Czech Republic: The Ministry of Finances will propose two versions of the 2002 state budget to the government. The first version will count on a deficit of CEK 10 bil and the other version will count on a deficit of CEK 20 bil. The balance of the 2001 budget worsened during Apr 2001. The budget resulted in a deficit of CEK 16.8 bil at the end of Apr 2001 compared to a surplus of CEK 2.4 bil in Mar 2001. Reasons for the deficit were subsidies to building societies and subsidies for the educational system to regional budgets.
