Cisco wins big with Net ordering

Cisco Systems Inc is promoting the use of its World Wide Web commerce site for business customer and resale partner ordering in accordance with its goal of shifting 30% of its business to the Internet by July 1997. Its Cisco Connection Online has already generated $216 million in online ordering revenue since it was launched in July 1996. Cisco, which hopes to earn over $1 billion in online orders, has a $1.5 million online marketing budget.

Trade books begin chase for Web ads

Trade publishers on the World Wide Web have focused their efforts on convincing advertisers to buy ad space in their publications. However, many publishers have encountered difficulties in selling to advertisers since online ad purchases were excluded from most ad budgets in 1996. Nonetheless, things are expected to improve in 1997 following the new programs and enhanced customer service offered by trade publications.
