Plastic spectacles force out glass
Article Abstract:
Rodenstock CR (Klatovy, Czech Republic), spectacle lens manufacturer, saw a profit of CEK 44 mil in 2000. The firm's proceeds increased to CEK 662 mil in 2000 compared to CEK 494 mil in 1999. The proceed growth was influenced by the moving of manufacturing from the German plants of the parent company Rodenstock (Germany). The firm has been manufacturing in the Czech Republic since 1995, mainly lenses of the higher price category to order. Its consumers are opticians from Germany, France, Austria and the Czech Republic. About 60% of Rodenstock CR's lens production are represented by plastic lenses currently compared to 30% in 1997.

Limart's shareholders approve stock-exchange admission

Limart (Brno, Czech Republic), flat steel processor, will increase its stock by at least CEK 100 mil shortly compared to the current CEK 170.2 mil. The firm will use the proceeds from the stock increase for the development of its production. It will meet the key condition for the launching of its shares to the capital market by the step. In 2000 Limart saw proceeds of CEK 948 mil and a net profit of CEK 45 mil, according to non-audited preliminary results. Currently, the firm is commissioning two new plate and sheet processing lines. It already operates three other lines. Limart has 80 employees.

Krkonosske papirny reports a record
Article Abstract:
Krkonosske papirny (KP) (Hostinne, Czech Republic), paper company, saw proceeds of CEK 2.17 bil from the sales of its products and services in 2000. The sum was 17% higher compared to 1999. According to preliminary non-audited results, the firm saw a gross profit of CEK 48 mil in 2000 compared to a loss of CEK 54 mil in 1999. KP's export volume increased by 21% to CEK 1.03 bil in 2000 compared to 1999.
