Policy implications of trade liberalization: the case of meat products in Taiwan and South Korea
Article Abstract:
Meat product demand in South Korea and Taiwan was evaluated using the Rotterdam model. Various meat products such as beef, pork and chicken showed minimal differences from marine product demand. South Korea and Taiwan exhibited pork own-price elasticities of -0.95 and -0.91, respectively. However, chicken own-price elasticities were more variant, with -0.48 for South Korea and -0.35 for Taiwan. These differences highlight the need for separation in individual beef type markets to evaluate related import policies more effectively.
