Pooling for success in Europe isn't just for the big guys: Day International cut its banking fees and gained visibility by consolidating its banking arrangements across the pond
Article Abstract:
Day International Group Inc., a Dayton, Ohio, printing and textile industry supplier, revamped its international banking structure, and not only reduced its bank fees, but also improved its internal controls by getting a better handle on its daily cash positions. This revamping effort shows that companies that are midsize can benefit from a reorganization of their overseas arrangements.

Another surge for captives: companies increasingly like them homegrown
Article Abstract:
Companies seemed to show a preference for captives based in the U.S. in 2002, and the high cost and difficulty of obtaining insurance generated another big increase in captive insurers in 2003. Vermont, the biggest domicile in the U.S., licensed an all-time record of 77 new captives in 2003, up from 2002's record of 70 new captives.
