Lieutenant General Claude Christianson, Army deputy chief of staff believes that during the opening of Operation Iraqi Freedom, U.S. military forces advanced so quickly that supply orders could not reach the rear. He states that a new satellite communications system, called Combat Service Support Very Small Aperture Terminal (CSS VSAT) is being fielded in Iraq and is working well.

Army recasting cav unit as 'infantry-based' brigade
Article Abstract:
The Army announced that it would transform the second Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR) into an infantry-based Stryker brigade after the unit returns from Iraq. The 2nd ACR will be the fourth Stryker-equipped unit, slated to become operational in late 2006 and will offer twice the number of infantry soldiers that the cavalry-con-figured unit would have offered.
