Profiting from the Dollar's Dip
Article Abstract:
The dollar peaked in the foreign exchange market in early 1984, but due to several factors, including the record deficit, the dollar has been declining, and is expected to decline further before 1984 is over. But the dollar's loss can represent a unique investment opportunity for people who are willing to take a risk and invest in the foreign currencies which usually profit when the dollar falls. The amount of risk you are willing to take will affect the return you recieve; safer, guaranteed CDs will return less than the currencies futures market where the payoffs are high, as are the risks. Because of the potential in the foreign currencies market, there are many scams around, so potential investments should be thoroughly checked. Foreign currencies which are expected to do best include the German mark, the Japanese yen and Swiss francs, while British, French, and Italian currencies are not expected to do as well.
