Profiting from transformation
Article Abstract:
Muslim Commercial Bank Ltd. is Pakistan's best managed private-sector bank. While the Muslim Commercial's pre-tax profit in FY 1996 was only PRs268 million compared to PRs661 million in FY 1995, the decline was caused by the bank's reserving to take bad debts off its books. Because of this reserving, Muslim Commercial's loan portfolio is healthier than is any other private-sector bank in Pakistan.
