GM's Ultralite concept car
Article Abstract:
The Ultralite is an attractive working prototype of a four-door passenger car developed by General Motors Corp.. It is not intended for mass production but instead for developing ideas for reducing fuel emissions and improving body design and fuel economy. The final prototype managed to achieve the prioritized goal of 100 miles per gallon, although an actual mass-produced Ultralite would have slightly weaker performance and heavier mass. Jim Bieck, the head of the company's Design Staff's Advanced Design Studio 2, is also interviewed.
