Pubs and clubs call last orders on 2000
Article Abstract:
British clubs and pubs did not perform as well as expected over the New Year holiday period 1999-2000. High prices deterred many customers. JD Wetherspoon closed all its pubs on New Year's Eve, and this appears to have been a wise move. Yate Brothers Wine Lodges did perform well, and had free admission, though bar prices were a little higher. The company provided free soft drinks for customers who were driving, and paid double to staff with a bonus of 100 pounds sterling.
