Radiomobil invested CEK 9 bil in its Paegas network in 2000

Radiomobil (Prague, Czech Republic), mobile telephone network operator, plans to implement new technology to improve the quality of calls by Aug 2001. The firm has a total of 1.85 mil clients. It invested CEK 9 bil in the modernization of its mobile telephone network in 2000 compared to CEK 5.5 bil in 1999. It increased the number of its base stations by 750 to 2,500 pieces in 2000 compared to 1999. The step did not enlarge the firm's coverage but it rose the capacity and quality of the network. Radiomobil should buy a licence to operate a third generation of the mobile telephones UMTS in 2001. The state wants to sell the licence for about CEK 5 bil. According to Radiomobil, the price is unreal.

Cesky Mobil (CM) (Prague, Czech Republic), mobile phone operator, plans to invest a total of USD 800 mil in its network. Its investments should be intended mainly for the improvement of the firm's signal, mainly inside buildings. CM's signal covers more than 90% of the population currently and is spread by 1,800 base stations. The firm has invested USD 350 mil, over CEK 13 bil, in the Czech Republic so far. It covers its investments from a syndicated credit of USD 415 mil. Besides, the firm has its own sources worth USD 350 mil. It plans to double the number of clients in its network in 2001 compared to the current state. The number of the firm's clients was about 700,000-750,000 at the end of 2000.

Radiomobil (Prague, Czech Republic), mobile operator, plans similar investments in 2001 as the CEK 8.6 bil invested in 2000. In 2001 the company plans to purchase a licence to operate the third generation of the mobile telephones UMTS. The 2000 investments were used mainly for an increase in the capacity of the firm's network and the launching of new services. The firm saw a profit of CEK 1.7 bil in 2000. It won 990,000 new clients for its mobile network Paegas in 2000. It had a total of nearly 1.9 mil clients at the end of 2000.
