Ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) as an index of aerobic endurance during local and general exercises
Article Abstract:
The relationships between endurance indicators such as exhaustion time and critical power (CP) output involved in cycling and knee extension exercises were evaluated in connection with ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) at the fifth minute of a constant intensity exercise of an electromyographic activity. RPE of exercising muscles (RPEmu) at the fifth minute and the logarithm of the exhaustion time were almost alike and not significantly different for the cycling and knee exercises. RPEmu may be utilized as an index of aerobic endurance.

A comparison of time to exhaustion at VO2-max in elite cyclists, kayak paddlers, swimmers and runners
Article Abstract:
The time to exhaustion (t-lim) at the lowest velocity that elicits maximum oxygen uptake (vVO2 max) is inversely proportional to maximum oxygen consumption (VO2 max) for elite sportsmen. The VO2 max is different for various sports, except for cycling and running. The t-lim at vVO2 max is quite different between cycling and kayaking. The sportsmen employed for the comparative study included 9 cyclists, 9 kayak paddlers, 9 swimmers and 41 runners.

Calculation of times to exhaustion at 100 and 120% maximal aerobic speed
Article Abstract:
The intersubject variability in times to exhaustion (tlim) at maximal aerobic speed (MAS) in a group that was homogeneous with regard to VO2max, was investigated. The data indicates that running time to exhaustion at MAS in subelite male runners was linked to time limit at 120% MAS. Anaerobic capacity was determined by the exercise to exhaustion at 120% MAS.
