Drivers' fatigue studies
Article Abstract:
Results of various fatigue studies of bus and truck drivers using different approaches are summarized. Findings from 24 city bus drivers acquired through biochemical and psychophysiological tests before and after seven hours of driving are analyzed. An acoustic speech analysis conducted on 34 bus drivers before and after driving is also examined. Changes in ear body temperature, diastolic blood pressure, accommodation and vision are observed after seven hours of prolonged driving. Long-distance drivers are found to spend 60% of the total trip driving and 16% sleeping.

Psychophysiological analysis of mental load during driving on rural roads - a quasi-experimental field study
Article Abstract:
A study aimed at developing an integrated measure-assessment approach which can be a basis in road development applications was conducted. The study assessed the driving performance of drivers and the driving demands of rural road segments. Thirty one student test drivers participated and six study roads with various curvature change rates were chosen. Results showed that longitudinal and situation-related stability for heart and blink rates were apparently normal. Such results suggested effective road designs.
