Retailing and producer-retailer relationships: Introductory remarks
Article Abstract:
The growth of supermarkets and large, often multinational, supermarket chains is rapidly transforming the organization of the agribusiness sector in developing as well as developed countries. Food safety concerns and evolving consumer preferences have also created the need for transformation and transparency in the production, processing and retail distribution of food products. To improve the understanding of these forces and their impact upon food system organization, INRA-LORIA (a unit of the French National Institute of Agricultural Research) organized a conference in Paris during May 2004.
