Revenue under fire over self-assessment errors
Article Abstract:
Revenue & Customs should accept more responsibility for its mistakes in tax assessments, codes and penalties during the self-assessment process, as per the government's select committee on public accounts in its new report on self-assessment filing. It believes that the taxpayers' PAYE codes are calculated incorrectly by the revenue and hence it suggests the Revenue consider reducing the time period for tax return filing, or staggering filing dates for different groups of taxpayers.
