Self-assessment deadline shock
Article Abstract:
Carter's review of Revenue and Customs services has suggested moving the deadline for filing self-assessment tax returns from 31 January 2006, forward to 30 September for tax returns submitted on paper and to 30 November for online tax returns. This has led to shock and disappointment amongst accountants and tax practitioners as they feel this would burden the tax payer and would increase the cost of revenue.
