Rhetoric and reality: corporate codes of conduct are of little use unless action follows words
Article Abstract:
Organizations can and should improve the values and ethics levels adhered to by employees because conditions are constantly changing in society and the workplace. Most large companies in the US and Canada have produced ethics guides and conduct codes, but most do not support these with training and monitoring. A good ethics program may be managed by consultants and should be integrated with the company's plans and programs in a manner that encourages communication and provides education while applying to everyone equally. Factors in the failures and successes of ethics programs are listed.

Higher stakes
Article Abstract:
Corporations need to be responsive to the needs of all stakeholders. These stakeholders include not just shareholders, but employees, government regulators and customers as well. They could also include creditors, suppliers and communities in which corprorations operate. One way for corporations to ensure that the interests of all their stakeholders are taken into consideration would be for them to shift to an ethics-based stakeholder accountability program.
