Advertising agencies are experiencing tremendous growth in their business-to-business accounts. This trend is reflected not only in the increase in revenue but also in the increase in the number of agencies engaged in business-to-business marketing. However, the success of business-to-business marketers has come with a price. Job stress and burnout within shops involved in business-to-business marketing are on the rise due to increased workloads and responsibilities.

Boise Cascade Office Products' profit growth increases as it continuously pursue its business-to-business (b-to-b) direct marketing strategy via the Internet. Twenty percent of its total sales comes from the company's b-to-b transactions in cyberspace. Boise's database marketing director Lawrence Hefler stated that the firm utilizes database marketing to determine the customers' needs. This information is in turn used in knowing how to approach the customers.
