Saatchi ad hurt 'Just For Feet'
Article Abstract:
The Super Bowl commercial that Saatchi and Saatchi created for Just For Feet is being partly blamed for the shoe company's bankruptcy filing in 1999. The commercial featured a black man in Kenya being dragged by militarists and putting sneakers on him. The spot was said to have a negative impact on the company which was once cited as one of the largest shoe retailers with $775 million in sales. Another factor was the filing of lawsuits against Just For Feet for insider trading, breach of fiduciary duty, common law fraud and deceit which the company denied.
