Broad, Inc
Article Abstract:
Broad Pres Eli Broad stressed that Wall Street should not consider the firm as just another life insurance holding entity but as a progressive company as well. The company posted a 74% increase in sales for the Jun 1992 quarter and its total assets are valued at a high of $15.2 billion. Shares are trading at only eight times the estimated 1993 net but the stock attained a 52-week high. The 38 million shares of common and Class B stock received a 20-cent dividend while Broad Director Wayne M. Hoffman increased his stakes to 50,000 shares.

Alex Brown Inc
Article Abstract:
The remarkable financial performance of Alex Brown Inc during the quarter of Mar 1992 did nothing to increase its price in the stock market. While the company says that this is only a statistical blip, others are saying that its decreased price could be attributed to the company's dismal rating in the latest underwriting rankings. Analysts are also doubtful that the company has recuperated from problems announced by the company in March.
