Scottish and Newcastle has seen a rise in beer sales, operating margin and exports in the six months to Oct 31 1996. Beer accounted for 40% of the company's operating profit. Pontins holiday village and Center Parcs saw a drop in turnover of 3% at 209 million pounds sterling, while operating profit, at 45.1 million pounds, dropped by 11%. The pub business reported a rise in turnover of 8%. The company's profit is forecast at 383 million pounds sterling for 1996 to 1997.
