Self-managed knowledge teams simplify high-tech manufacturing
Article Abstract:
The traditional approach in achieving space systems reliability requires engineering models, multiple breadboards construction and full-up qualification units for each of the separate elements. However, advanced technology and modern budget restraints require a change in the traditional organizational design. Maximization of teamworks is the best way for an organizational design to simplify high-tech manufacturing. Consideration of certain factors are necessary to produce self-managed knowledge teams: organizational changes, self-management, colocation and project teams.

The role of management in a self-managing organization
Article Abstract:
The main requirement of a self-managing organization is the redesigning of all levels of work such that responsibility for coordination and control is relocated at an appropriate level allowing effective performance in the absence of hierarchical interference or external supervision. Self-managing work teams are crucial to organizational performance but they also eliminate managerial positions and replace them with a hierarchy of accountability at different levels: strategic level, middle level and growth level.

The role of management intervention in the development of empowered work teams
Article Abstract:
The development of productive work teams often creates problems concerning managerial performance since it often involves the abdication of leadership duties. The success of work teams, however, is not attributed to empowerment or effective management by organizational heads. It is achieved by providing adequate training to work teams to allow them to manage themselves effectively.
