Sen. Stevens presses for joint UAV development
Article Abstract:
The chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee defense subcommittee, Senator Ted Stevens, recommends that the military services should jointly develop unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs). The Secretary of the US Navy, Donald Winter claims that issues need to be resolved prior to this joint UAV development like for example the Northrop Grumman Corp unit Ship systems suffered heavy damage to its yards where an LPD might be built, because of Katrina.

Winter decries industry focus on near-term profit, sees downsizing
Article Abstract:
The shipbuilding industry is only focused on short-term bottom-line profits and not on long-term quality and on-time delivery success. Secretary of the Navy, Donald Winter suggests that the shipbuilding industry must reduce the number of employees as it has too many employees considering the future needs of Navy for more vessels.
