Managing engineers effectively
Article Abstract:
It takes a combination of engineering expertise and management finesse to be an engineering manager. Engineering managers need to understand their working environment thoroughly. They must address their staff's professional interests and their own managerial goals. They must be leaders; intuitive and innovative. They must maintain technical expertise in their fields to maintain credibility. They must know how to work in a team of essentially nonteam players.
