12 carriers needed despite efficiencies-Admiral
Article Abstract:
Rear Adm. John Stufflebeem stated that the Navy still would need 12 aircraft carrier strike groups despite an array of efficiency moves to wring more capability from ships and other assets. Other efficiencies wringing more combat capability out of the carriers would include basing near potential trouble spots or swapping crews so that one group of sailors can return home or gain shore leave, while a fresh crew takes over on the ship.
