Ships sales down 25 percent: Katrina continues to hit Northrop Grumman results

Northrop Grumman Corp. reported lower quarter sales and profits due to the continued struggles in its shipbuilding operations in 2006 along the Gulf Coast, which had been hit by devastating Hurricane Katrina. Northrop reported first quarter 2006 income from continuing operations of $357 million, or $1.02 per diluted share, compared with $398 million, or $1.08 per diluted share, for the same period of 2005, a 10.3 percent decline.
