Shooting at remote location is rewarding, but tricky

Public relations (PR) firms are increasingly faced with no option but to shoot on a remote location due to the growing popularity of remote press conferences and satellite media tours. While shooting on location is oftentimes more expensive than studio work, a remote shot can be rewarding when the location is an integral part of the story. PR firms are advised to first survey the site and hear about the weather forecast before doing an outside shoot.

Public relations firms currently have the edge over advertising agencies in the battle for marketing dollars on the Internet. Leading marketers in the US are only allocating a relatively insignificant amount of their marketing budgets on Internet advertising. PR executives say this is because the Internet is more suited to tailored messages from PR firms rather than fancy campaigns from ad agencies.
