Shopping for shares
Article Abstract:
There are two UK share brokerages offering service through banks, and they are Midland Bank and NatWest Bank. Norwich and Peterborough has share shops in the East Anglian region of England. NatWest is the biggest chain with 278 branches offering share dealing. ShareLink is also entering this market and offers free booklets as well as information on screen. Killick and Co offers branches near the M25 freeway. Halifax may also offer share dealing using its branch network and this would change high street share broking in the UK.

Limited access to the global niche
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom investors seeking to invest abroad tend to be advised to use investment trusts and unit trusts, but they can also deal directly. There are some UK brokers who offer this service though dealing and holding costs tend to be higher than for UK stocks. Additional charges include handling fees imposed by foreign brokers, and there may be currency conversion costs if dividends are paid. There are also currency risks and other risks such as a possible lack of information about companies abroad.
