Should I stay or should I go
Article Abstract:
A number of UK executives are vulnerable according to a survey of corporate performance using the criteria of fund managers. These executives include the chief executive and deputy chairman of Inchcape, Charles Mackay, and the chairman of P and O, Lord Sterling. Geoff Mulcahy, Kingfisher chief executive, is also criticised for mistakes such as introducing point of sale equipment too rapidly in the Woolworths chain. Graham Hearne is seen as having too much power as both chief executive and chairman of Enterprise Oil.

Pointing the finger at lottery losers
Article Abstract:
The UK National Lottery was begun in Nov 1994 and has raised some 100 million pounds sterling on average each week since then. Companies which have benefited include shareholders in Camelot, which runs the lottery, and suppliers of lottery equipment. Other companies involved in the UK gambling industry have seen a reduction in sales. More jobs are likely to be lost, according to a forecast from the Henley Centre. The UK gambling industry is seeking looser regulations in order to be able to compete.
