Should Reed spin off Cahners?
Article Abstract:
Cahners Publishing (Cahners) Pres. and CEO Robert Krakoff has vigorously denied rumors that Reed Elsevier (Reed) is planning to sell off Cahners. However, there are many indications that a spinoff is indeed in the making. Informed sources state that a top executive from Boston Ventures recently met with Reed Chmn. Ian Irvine to discuss the sale of Reed's US properties. Reed spokesmen officially deny any spinoff plans but it is an open secret that Reed needs to divest some of its holdings to finance future acquisitions.
