Singapore - Asia's regional financial centre?
Article Abstract:
A forecast of Singapore's economic conditions is presented. Singapore has experienced an economic slowdown, with its GDP expanding by only 3.8% in the 1st qtr, 1997, down from 5.8% in the 4th qtr, 1996. In 1996, Singapore's GDP totalled S$109.1 billion, and its per capita income exceeded S$30,000. Its current account surplus declined from S$4.5 billion in the 4th qtr, 1996 to S$3.6 billion in the 1st qtr, 1997.
