P&G plunges into Web

Procter and Gamble Co (P&G) of Cincinnati, OH, intends to spend more money on online advertising. The company, which started advertising on the Internet in 1996, plans to spend 80% of its advertising budget within the next five years on online advertisements. P&G previously alloted only 1% of its budget to Internet advertising, most of which went to digital media. Worldwide online media spending is expected to reach $7.7 billion in 2002, a vast improvement from only $2 billion in 1998.

The online games produced by Uproar have enabled its client firms to attract 1,883,000 visitors to their Websites who stayed for an average of 35.7 minutes. One such client is the National Thoroughbred Racing Assn, which developed the "NTRA Race to the Finish" game with Uproar's assistance.
