Skoda Praha saw a loss of several millions of Czech crowns in 2000
Article Abstract:
Skoda Praha (SP) (Prague, Czech Republic), engineering company, expects its economic results to improve in 2001, having seen a loss of CEK 331.3 mil in 2000. A reason for the 2000 loss was mainly the need to form rectifying items for overdue receivables for some foreign contracts. The contracts regard mainly supplies for the uncompleted blocks of the Mochovce Nuclear Power Station in Slovakia. SP's largest contract is still the Temelin Nuclear Power Station, the Czech Republic, which ensures nearly 50% of its proceeds. On foreign markets, SP has contracts in Slovakia, India, Egypt and Cuba. The firm has a 55% stake held by the state, a 30% stake by the power company CEZ (Czech Republic) and a 10% stake by Skodaexport (Czech Republic).
