Software602 makes up 1 mil users
Article Abstract:
Software602 (Prague, Czech Republic), software company, plans to increase the number of the users of its office package PC Suite to 1 mil in 2000. It had 332,000 registered clients at the end of 2000. The majority of the users come from foreign countries through the Internet. Currently, PC Suite has nearly 250,000 foreign users. In 2001 Software602 should stop the drop of its proceeds, which started in 1998. It expects a turnover of about CEK 56 mil in 2001, similarly as in 1999. The group including subsidiaries in Slovakia and the US expects a total turnover of more than CEK 120 mil in 2001. Software602 has been offering the office package PC Suite, which includes a word processor, a table processor and a graphical program, for free since Feb 2000. The clients can buy accessory programs and services. The liberation of access to the firm's programs was a reason for the drop of the 2000 turnover. The turnover decreased by CEK 11 mil to CEK 44.5 mil in 2000 compared to 1999.

Software602 lowers its revenues and sees a loss
Article Abstract:
Software602 (Prague, Czech Republic), software company, decreased its revenues by 20% to CEK 44.5 mil in 2000 compared to CEK 55.5 mil in 1999. The firm's economy resulted in a loss of CEK 6.9 mil in 2000 compared to a pre-tax profit of CEK 1.2 mil in 1999. A reason for the drop of the 2000 revenues was the free distribution of the office package PC Suite in February 2000. Only registered users pay for Suite. They pay an annual sum for technical support, which delays payments to a period after registration.
