Staying ahead of the retail game
Article Abstract:
Creating a compelling reason for consumers to drive past competitors is the advice that retail consultant Jon Schallert gives to camera stores. He says that it is no longer enough to compete on product and price alone but there must also be a convincing reason for consumers to patronize their services and products. Schallert adds that marketing should be more personalized than prepackaged and should communicate the stores' personality. He says this can be best be done by identifying the stores' best or the top 20% customers.

Kiosks - it's all about connectivity
Article Abstract:
Agfa's Pixtasy, Fuji's Aladdin, FusionWorks' Digital Minilab and Kodak's Picture Maker are some of the kiosks available for use by camera stores, minilabs and digital imaging retailers. For instance, the Pixtasy is available in two formats, a workstation that hooks into Agfa's digital print unit and the d-lab.3 digital lab, and a version with an optional Sony printer. On the other hand, the Aladdin comes with a computer, a Pictography printer or a Frontier.
