Still some way to go
Article Abstract:
Chesterton has suffered a number of problems since it was floated in 1994, such as accounting errors, the loss of a chief executive, and profit warnings. The company's latest warning was followed by a drop in its stock price of 40% to 0.31 pounds sterling. The company brought in Michael Holmes, an outsider, to be chief executive in April 1997, and he is reviewing Chesterton's activities. He has also halted an acquisitions program which had created problems. The company's performance could improve, and some of its activities look interesting.
