Stock jockeys
Article Abstract:
The investment advisory business is increasing its use of chartered accountants as 'stock jockeys.' Chartered accountants not only know accounting but they understand how firms function. Bill Quinn, a chartered accountant that works at RBC Dominion Securities Ltd., says that being a chartered accountant has helped in retail vending for a brokerage firm, giving him 'credibility.' Job prospects in the investment industry are expected to remain healthy for chartered accountants and others because, according to a study by Ernst & Young, total Canadian household wealth, investment potential, should grow from $2,477 billion in 1989 to $6,234 billion in 2000. Abstractor note: I really think those last figures should be in millions
