Storage Equities (SEQ) Pres and CEO B. Wayne Hughes purchased 65,000 shares of SEQ stocks at prices between 8-1/8 and 8-3/4. Hughes thereby raised his indirect interest in SEQ to 988,000 shares. He is part of an insider group that bought an additional 155,000 SEQ shares between Nov 1991 and Jan 1992. The group now owns a total of 1.48 million shares with an ownership equity of 9.87%. SEQ runs a profitable self-service storage business that includes 224 mini-warehouses in 12 business parks and 17 other properties in 35 states. An 81-cent dividend was declared on 156 million shares in 1991.

Kimco Realty Corp has exceeded the predicted $3 million per quarter earnings by posting $4.3 million in profits for the three months ended Jun 1992. Chmn and Pres Milton Cooper disclosed that satisfactory rental rates on its shopping centers and lesser interest costs are mainly responsible for the rise in earnings. The company is set to acquire new properties after securing $61 million from the Jun 1992 secondary offering. Kimco gives $1.76 on 16 million shares.

L and N Housing Corp, a Dallas-based real estate investment trust, is currently reassigning its seven-member board of directors. The reassignment of management was caused by the acquisition of Lomas Financial Corp's holding of 16% by EastGroup Properties and Walker Investments L.P.
