SunAccount
Article Abstract:
Systems Union's SunAccount accounting package is a database system that provides comprehensive reporting capabilities. The program is different from other programs in that the nominal ledger directly incorporates debtor and creditor accounts and all input screens can be custom-designed by the user for individual transactions. SunAccount consists of ledger accounting, fixed assets, multi-currency accounting and time accounting and can be integrated with other Systems Union programs. The program runs on a wide range of hardware and operating systems including all major PC systems, OS-2, and the DEC VAX. The program's new features include an on-line help facility, file archiving, and more extensive analysis and selection capabilities.

SunAccount
Article Abstract:
The 1,850-4,425 pounds sterling SunAccount accounting software package is as technically sophisticated as any on the market, but is less comprehensive and more difficult to set up than its competitors. It lacks separate sales and purchase ledgers. Debtor and creditor accounts are included in the nominal ledger. There is no simple menu to help the user through the system. However, SunAccount's flexibility is considerable, especially when setting up individual companies. System budget facilities are more than adequate. Audit controls are weak, but can be augmented through user input. Security is reasonably good. Documentation is poor. A big plus is the system's ability to link up with other systems such as Lotus and dBase.

Account codes for general ledger packages
Article Abstract:
Computerized accounting packages are becoming more common, but to get the most benefits the implementation of the package must be customized to the business where it is going to be used. One of the crucial implementation issues is which account code structure to select. A new coding structure can maximize the benefits of a new general ledger package, but it should be created so that the business requirements for information are met in an efficient manner within the limitations and capabilities of the package.
