Taco dispute underscores need for standardized tests
Article Abstract:
A Safeway store in Pleasanton, CA removed its home-brand taco shells from its shelves after a consumer group said that the taco shells contained genetically modified corn. Northfield, iL-based Kraft Foods had previously recalled all Taco Bell Home Originals for the same reason.

New US committee considers xenotransplants

The newly formed Secretary's Advisory Committee on Xenotransplantation (under the Dept. of Health and Human Services) began operation in February with the goal of creating regulations about transplants from non-human sources into humans.
