Technophilia
Article Abstract:
Technology stocks have seen price rises, though many technology companies have not achieved a profit, and 90% of them could go bankrupt, according to Federal Reserve chairman, Alan Greenspan. Technology is a key growth area, and companies can focus on electronic commerce, since they have tackled problems relating to the Year 2000 computer transition. There are a number of funds specialising in technology stocks, and investors could select one such fund and see the market in terms of five or ten years.

Take control of your portfolio's risk rating
Article Abstract:
Investors can obtain better returns by assuming greater risks, and volatility is one way of measuring risk. Investment and unit trusts spread risks across a number of stocks, while general funds spread risks across countries, which single country funds do not. Liquidity can be a risk with smaller funds. Investors may seek to invest in funds that have low covariances, but this cannot always be forecast. Tracker funds offer certainty of risk, with returns similar to those of indexes, except that charges have to be subtracted.

Underpriced...
Article Abstract:
There are a number of investment trusts with large discounts and they are often in particular sectors, such as emerging markets, small companies, and specialist areas. Large discounts can be attractive to new investors, since they offer opportunities. To benefit from these discounts, the discounts must narrow while the stocks are held. Venture capital is the sector that has seen the sharpest narrowing of discounts, though marketing campaigns and stock buybacks can also help to narrow discounts.
