Tax software adapts to meet technology
Article Abstract:
Software vendors have continually developed and introduced tax programs that address the myriad tax law changes implemented by the government. They have added new features to their software products, produced software for more types of tax entities, and remained leaders in cutting-edge technology. The Taxation for Accountants journal's list of tax preparation software for 1996 includes 44 companies. Seventeen of these companies offer a Windows version of their software product while 13 plan to issue a Windows version within the next three years. Four companies are using multimedia in their software while 18 distribute their software on a CD-ROM. Seventeen of the 44 companies have an Internet site to provide product information. A directory of these companies is provided, which comes with information on their products.
