The British are coming
Article Abstract:
The British film industry is experiencing a resurgence. Such works as 'Secrets and Lies,' 'Sense and Sensibility' and 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' have bolstered the motion picture sector in the UK not only on the domestic front but also on a global scale, highlighting the talents of the British along the way. However, certain worries remain. For instance, most of the highly acclaimed films, such as the aforementioned, were actually funded by foreign companies, which means that profits did not go the UK. Moreover, although the number of British films being produced is on the rise, the number actually being distributed is dwindling. Nevertheless, the British government is taking steps to support the industry. It has allocated National Lottery money for film production and distribution franchises and has announced certain tax breaks. Despite the assistance, it remains to be seen if the industry can sustain its current heightened status.

The big picture
Article Abstract:
The British film industry is facing a huge crises due to lack of equity funding for film makers, increased competition from other countries that are offering cheaper production facilities and more favourable tax structure. It is found that the anti-avoidance legislation and the lack of any firm proposals to replace the system have a significant effect on the industry.
