The Future Role of the Individual within the 'Information Society'
Article Abstract:
The relationship of the individual and the new communication technology is considered. The evolution of the information society is traced. The information society evolved from the industrial society and the media society. Questions will be raised about the matter of a person's confidentiality, ethics and legal status. The information society will be divided into those countries that control information and those that either do not or cannot. Technological innovation may not be applicable in developing countries. The social economic history of Jamaica is used to illustrate this point.
