Francis Winspear of the Winspear Foundation has left a rich legacy to the accounting profession, education and the advancement of western reform. He served as part-time accounting lecturer for 18 years in the University of Alberta and has been chief executive of eight companies while running his own accounting firm. Eighty-nine year old Winspear has retired from practice, but he remains an active philanthropist. He recently donated $1 million to the University of Victoria for the funding of a public policy chair. Winspear was also the first recipient of the Faculty of Business Leader Award in 1982.
